Dear colleague, We are writing to you to inform you about a future handbook of Computational Statistics with the topic data visualization. The members of the editorial board of this handbook are James E. Gentle, Wolfgang Hardle, and Yuichi Mori. The first handbook appeared this spring with the subtitle concepts and methods. (springer ISBN 3-540-40464-3). The second handbook will appear next year on robustness issues. The handbook on data visualization is planned for 2006 with Chun-houh Chen, Jan de Leeuw, Wolfgang Hardle, and Antony Unwin as editors. One unique feature of this handbook series of Computational Statistics is the supplement ebook format. Readers can link to world wide computing servers through the HTML file of the ebook. They can also download it to a local computer via a license card included in the handbook. The authors can thus make their computer programs available to the readers through the ebook. We would like to invite you to contribute to this handbook. The time plan is as follows: Submission of the first draft should be made by April 2005. The handbook is celebrated on a conference, scheduled for January 2006 at Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin. We plan to have the handbook published by the end of 2006. We aim at recruiting about forty contributions to this handbook. Your help in providing us names of the researchers who should and can contribute to the handbook to make it more comprehensive is greatly appreciated. Please inform us of your intention with tentative title on data visualization and names of potential participants by November 10th. We are looking forward to your contribution to the handbook and participation for the conference.
